AK-47 Sales Soar After US Sanctions Kalashnikov Imports →
Who could have seen this coming? Following the US imposition of further sanctions on Russia last week, specifically the import of Kalashnikov firearms, CNN reports gun stores across the US are experiencing a run on AK-47s.
The economics of gun control would be an awesome lecture series.
Politicians in favor of gun control begin to implement restrictions on the access to certain types of firearms. After Sandy Hook many people believed the AR-15’s days were numbered so the demand rose precipitously. As a result the price rose to compensate for the increased demand which sent signals to producers to churn out more AR-15s. Over time the anti-gun hysteria died down and prices returned to normal levels, only now there are more AR-15s in circulation and it’s even possible that because of the newly expanded supply they’re cheaper than they were before the whole episode began.
Gun-controlling politicians actually promoting the proliferation of guns. We saw it with the AR-15, we may now be seeing it with Kalashnikovs.
The Secret of True Love Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward
They met in 1953, were cast together in “The Long Hot Summer” in 1957, married in 1958, and remained blissfully happy together for 50 years, celebrating their golden anniversary just months before Paul’s death in 2008.
Paul Newman’s letter to his wife on his wedding day:
“ Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens. A good marriage must be created. In the Art of Marriage, the little things are the big things. It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say ‘I love you’ at least once a day. It is never going to sleep angry. It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon; it should continue through all the years. It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives. It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family. It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways. It is not expecting the husband to wear a halo or the wife to have the wings of an angel. It is not looking for perfection in each other. It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humor. It is having the capacity to forgive and forget. It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow. It is finding rooms for things of the spirit. It is a common search for the good and the beautiful. It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and obligation is reciprocal. It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.”
"People don’t like Sansa because she is feminine. It annoys me that people only like the feminine characters when they act like male characters. And they always go on about feminism. Like, you’re rooting for the people who look like boys, who act like boys, who fight like boys. Root for the girls who wear dresses and are intellectually very strong."
